10 Benefits Of Eating Chicken Soup (Recipe Included)

We all know it; chicken soup is the best remedy for a runny nose in the winter. But what is so special about this easy-to-make soup? Let’s find out!

Since the beginning of humanity’s use of fire, man has consumed bone broth. Why is that? Because it’s delicious! But this isn’t the only reason.

Well, I am sure you remember your mother or your grandmother instructing you to eat a delicious bowl of chicken soup when you felt under the weather as a child. And when you did, undoubtedly you felt better!

It’s highly recommended that everyone make bone broth and/or chicken soup a regular part of their diet. Why? Consider the below ten reasons!

10 Benefits Of Chicken Soup

Here are ten benefits of eating chicken soup at least one day a week:

1. It Keeps Cash In Your Wallet

Make your own bone broth at home, as opposed to storebought. It is less expensive, as well as healthier to consume. This is great news, because…

2. …It Is So Easy To Make!

That’s right! It’s not that hard to break down your own chicken. And when you do break it down, all you need is a crockpot, some carrots, water, salt, and celery. Throw all of the ingredients needed into the crockpot before heading to bed, and then let it work its magic as you rest.

3. It Heals Leaky Guts

Chicken soup, due to the bone broth it is made of, contains gelatin that not only helps to protect and heal the lining of the digestive tract, but it also aids in the digestion of nutrients.

4. It Aids In Fighting Infections

Trying to beat the flu or a cold? Studies have shown that consuming chicken soup during a respiratory infection helps to minimize the cells that cause said infection. So eat up!

5. It Reduces Pain In The Joints And Inflammation

Bone broth is made of lots of goodness, such as glucosamine. This ingredient can not only help to reduce pain and inflammation, but it has also been shown to stimulate collagen growth as well as work to repair damaged joints.

6. It Promotes Beautiful Skin, Nails, And Hair

Just previously we mentioned that chicken soup can aid in producing collagen. This, as well as the gelatin present in bone broth, can jump-start the growth of your hair as well as cause those nails to be oh-so-strong!

7. It Is Good For Your Bones

Bone broth, unsurprisingly, aids in the formation, repair, and growth of bones. This is due to the phosphorus, calcium, and magnesium found within it.

8. It’s Healthier Than Supplements

When you consume chicken soup, you are ingesting all of the bones and minerals that are found in bones and tendons. In comparison, pills may contain one or two of these.

Slow cooking chicken soup at home saves these nutrients, as opposed to the high-heat extraction that is implemented in preparing supplements.

9. It Fights Inflammation

We touched on this earlier, but bone broth reduces inflammation quite well thanks to amino acids proline and glycine.

10. It Promotes Calm And Good Sleep

And speaking of glycine, this amino acid can be calming to the mind, something we all need during illness.

How To Consume Chicken Broth

Chicken broth is generally found in soups and stews, but you can add it to any recipe that requires liquid!

Instead of using water in egg meals, stuffings, marinades for meat, noodle dishes, etc., pop in some chicken broth.

Some people are even switching their morning coffee for chicken broth! It doesn’t matter how much you consume, as long as you are ingesting it daily.

If you take in chicken broth early in the morning, it will promote healthy skin and gut health. You may also find you receive energy without the jitters you may experience from coffee.
