Nowadays we have all the information we need on the internet (weight loss myths too). If something hurts us, before going to the doctor, we check the Internet. Many times informations are false, or partly true. According to Internet, from a small scratch come to believe that you suffer from an incurable disease.
Weight Loss Myths On The Internet
The same is happening in the world of fitness. There are many tips that “help you lose weight”. Of these, we have to carefully selected the good ones, to avoid the unpleasant consequences. We present some busted myths about weight loss we met very often:
Is It Safe To Skip Meals?
The biggest mistake is to think that if you skip a meal, you’ll lose weight easier. This weight loss myth is totally wrong. Even more serious is that often breakfast is the meal you skip. Skipping breakfast will make you eat more at lunch to compensate. Follow the main meals of the day, and especially not avoid any of them.
To lose weight, you must have a diet low in fats. Wrong! 25% of the calories consumed daily should come from monounsaturated fats. A low-fat diet disrupts absorbing vitamins A, D and E in the body and affects the cardiovascular system and nervous system.
Weight Loss Myth About Carbohydrates
Perfect weight loss diet is low in carbohydrates. There are two types of carbohydrates, simple and complex. Our body needs carbohydrates, but only the complex ones, found in whole grains, fruits and vegetables. Simple carbohydrates are those of pasta, bread and cakes. So this weight loss myth is partially false.
What “Cholesterol Free” Means
We already know that a “cholesterol free” food does not mean it contains no cholesterol. I have explained this in the article about food label. If you have met such weight loss myths, please share them in a comment or a message. An enjoyable diet!
