Quick Diets To Jump Start A Weight Loss Plan

The quick diets are not for everyone, and are not meant to replace a healthy eating plan. However, when you need a diet that will provide a quick, if temporary, weight loss, there are some that work better than others. These quick diets are meant to jump start a weight loss plan, or to ensure a quick weight loss for a particular reason.

The 3 Days Quick Diet

This quick diet claims that you can lose 10 pounds in three days. It has been around since the 1980’s, and can cause weakness, hunger and irritability. It is only meant to be used for a quick weight loss, and not to be used for an extended period. It consists of ordinary foods found in any kitchen – no special foods to buy. A sample first day would consist of:


1/2 Grapefruit;
1 Slice of Toast;
2 Tablespoons of Peanut Butter;
1 cup Coffee or Tea.


1/2 Cup of Tuna;
1 Slice of Toast;
1 cup Coffee or Tea.


3 ounces of any type of meat;
1 cup of green beans;
1/2 banana;
1 small apple;
1 cup of vanilla ice cream.

The Apple Cider Vinegar Diet

This quick diet has been in existence since 1820, and its supporters claim it is quite effective. However, this diet can be very harsh on your stomach. The vinegar is used as a detoxifying agent, along with a low calorie diet. You mix two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar to a glass (16 ounces) of water and drink it between one and three times a day, ideally before a meal.

The Cabbage Soup Diet – is said to allow you to lose 10 pounds in 7 days, and is not recommended for long term use. You will probably have to keep reminding yourself that it only lasts for a week! A sample four days of this quick diet include:

  •   Day One – Cabbage soup and all of the fruit you want (except bananas).
  •   Day Two – Cabbage soup and all of the fresh leafy raw or cooked vegetables you like.
  •   Day Three – Cabbage soup and all of the fresh fruit and vegetables you like.
  •   Day Four – Cabbage soup, as many as eight bananas, and as much skim milk as you like.

As you can see, these quick diets are extremely limiting, and the chances of following them for any length of time is not very high. Which is a good thing, because these are not a healthy choice for any period of time.
