If you have insomnia or trouble falling asleep, these tips to fall asleep fast will help you achieve your 7-9 hours of sleep every night.
Everyone knows that you have to sleep at least 7 hours a night for a healthy and balanced lifestyle.
But what if you can’t fall asleep fast? Do you still have enough time to sleep? Well, I guess your answer is no.
That’s why we’ll learn some new tricks today to help us fall asleep faster.
How To Fall Asleep Fast
Here are 10 tips to help you get restful sleep every single night:
1. Lights Off
One of the most important tips I can give you is to make sure that your room is dark, almost black before you go to bed. Invest in a black blanket or something dark to put over your window.
This really helps you sleep better and gives you more restful sleep. It’s gonna be a lot easier for you to fall asleep without having the light coming in and possibly waking you up.
2. Exercise During The Day
Another great tip is making sure that you do some sort of physical activity or cardio for at least 30 minutes per day.
Now you don’t want to do it right before you go to bed because it can actually make it harder for you to sleep at night. So try doing it in the morning, before work, or after work to make sure that you do get your 30 minutes of cardio.
3. Drink Organic Tea
One of my all-time favorite way to fall asleep fast when anything else doesn’t work is to drink Organic Nighty Night Tea.
Even if my room is really dark and I am an active person, sometimes I still can’t sleep. Maybe my mind is all over the place and I can’t stop thinking about something. That’s the moment when I will take a tea bag and put some hot water on it.
Drinking organic tea is way much better than taking sleeping pills, so it’s a healthy alternative if you want to fall asleep fast.
4. Read A Book
This tip is kind of a funny one, but it totally works for me.
So read a book or a magazine, or something that you’re not really interested in; something you may find boring, maybe a math book, or a history book.
Read it for 30 minutes before you go to bed and you’ll fall asleep fast. This works for me all the time and I fall asleep right away.
5. Take A Warm Bath
My last tip and probably my favorite tip is taking a nice, warm bath before going to bed.
And try either some lavender scent or aromatherapy oils into the bath and you’ll feel relaxed and you’ll fall asleep fast, very fast.
6. Eat A Sleep-Inducing Snack
One of the best ways to fall asleep fast is to eat a sleep-inducing midnight snack, according to Dr. Oz.
You can prepare for yourself a sleep-inducing food combo: flower seeds mixed with dates.
They both contain an amino acid called tryptophan, which stimulates melatonin (known as the hormone that gets you to sleep better).
And the best part about this sleep-inducing snack is that you can have it before going to bed, or you can prepare it during the day and place a bowl near your bed.
So every time you’re waking up searching for something to munch you’ll find the snack near to you.
7. Progressive Muscle Relaxation
If your body is tense, your mind will follow. So if you can relax your muscles, your mind will relax too. Try to relax every muscle of your body, from the eyebrow and jaw to your feet.
This way your mind will relax too and you will fall asleep fast.
8. Wild Lettuce Supplement
This wild lettuce supplement is useful for restless sleep. It was actually called that for some time because helps you to get there.
So this supplement really gives you that restful feeling in the morning, but if you’re pregnant, you need to avoid it!
9. Count Your Breathing
Well, I must admit that counting your breathing is an odd way to fall asleep fast. But for some of you, it can really work.
When you’re going to bed, try to focus on your breaths and how to control their duration. Inhale for about 3 seconds, then exhale for the same duration.
The oxygen you’re getting is gonna relax your body and the counting helps to relax your mind. This type of breathing will make you fall asleep fast.
10. Listen To Relaxing Sounds
Search on YouTube for some relaxing sounds (or songs) to fall asleep to. I ALWAYS do this when I can’t sleep.
Listening to certain sounds can help you relax enough to fall asleep. There are some of you who just need that background noise to fall asleep faster.
Nature sounds like waves, rain, forest, wind, etc. distract the mind enough to allow relaxation to set in and help you fall asleep.
Some things to avoid:
- Texting until the wee hours of the morning;
- Worrying about things you need to do the next day;
- Giving yourself sugar highs before bed;
- Don’t drink coffee (just decaf);
