Have You Ever Tried To Work Out With Your Dog?

Have you ever wondered how you could work out with your dog? There are a great number of ways in which you can stay healthy and active even if you have a dog.

By mixing activities that both you and your pet love, you can both get healthy, as long as you make sure you’re both fit to exercise, and you work out in the morning or evening so your dog doesn’t get too hot.

But how exactly does this “buddy system” work? Let’s have a look at some of the benefits of working out with your dog.

Work Out With Your Dog

Here are the benefits you get by pairing your workout with the time you spend walking your dog:

1. Endorphins!

Ah, endorphins, my favorite hormone (yes, I have a favorite hormone).

Endorphins are here for one reason only: to make us all warm and fuzzy on the inside. When you work out with your dog, assuming your pup can heel and the workout is not a struggle for either of you, you will get a rush of endorphins.

I mean, have you seen dogs run? They’re the cutest things ever, and watching this every day as you go for a walk or jog with them is going to get your endorphin levels sky-high.

2. Stress Reliever

Partly due to the endorphins from point one, partly due to being active, working out with your dog relieves stress. Because you’re spending quality time with your doggie, that benefits both your body and his, you are making the kind of connection that dog owners know but can’t explain (you know?).

And this, in turn, helps people manage stress better. When you do something you really enjoy every single day, it’s a lot easier to handle hardship either at work or in your personal life.

3. Energy When You Need It

Dogs are pure energy and you know it. They’re ready to wag their tail enthusiastically regardless of when you want them to come to join you for a jog. They’re always ready!

This willingness to always go for walks and to move is actually beneficial for dog owners. People who work out with their dogs are less inclined to see their busy schedules as a barrier in the way of their fitness.

Instead, they have a positive outlook that tells them they’ll find a way to fit in a workout, one way or another, thanks to their energetic workout buddies.

4. Trainer Extraordinaire

Your pup will get used to waking up early and going for a walk or a run a lot easier than you will. So if you have mornings when you don’t feel like an early riser, you won’t need a snooze button.

You’ll have a wet nose to wake you up, whether you feel like it or not, and a waggy tail that is definitely going to put a smile on your face – and who doesn’t like waking up with a smile?

5. Diversify

Although dogs will always love walks around the block or in the park, this doesn’t have to limit you. With a bit of proper training (basic commands) you can get your dog to come with you on a hike, or when you go camping.

Dogs love adventure and exploring, so if you want to work out with your dog you might want to skip the dog-sitting next time you go on vacation and bring your buddy with you.
