12 Tricks To Get Rid Of Dark Circles Under Eyes

No More Dark Circles Under Eyes

Today I wanted to focus on a topic that a tone of you have asked me about, and that is how to get rid of puffiness and dark circles under eyes. This is a problem that affects probably everybody to some degree.

Some of the causes for puffiness and dark circles under eyes are stress, lack of sleep, bad diet, weather, sinus, if you had to much to drink the night before, if you were crying, basically if you’re human. Dark circles under eyes are also caused by the thinning of the skin underneath your eye. The blood vessels underneath which have that bluish color are showing through.

1. Drink More Water

I probably sound like a broken record because I say this so often, but one of the first things that you can do to counter act puffiness and dark circles under eyes is to drink more water. The more water you drink, the less water you’re going to retain. Therefore your under eyes aren’t going to retain as much.

2. Be Careful With Salt Intake

You also wanna consider your salt intake. Salt naturally is going to dehydrate your body and make it cling to every little bit of water that comes in and create bloatedness and more puffiness.

3. Sleep More

Getting consistent sleep is very important. If you can at least go to bed around the same time every evening, that’s going to do wonders to help regulate your sleep. Make sure it’s restful! You can also try sleeping on 2 pillows. That will elevate your head and help drain any of the extra water retention from your face. Also Try changing your sheets and your pillowcase every week. Dust, pet dander, all kinds of allergens can collect there and can be affecting you while you’re sleeping and you don’t even know it.

4. Use Green Or Black Tea Bags

Let’s say you got a good night sleep, you wake up in the morning, look in the mirror and the dark circles are still there. Here is something you could try: make green or black tea. The green tea has the health benefits so go ahead and drink it, and then set the tea bags aside to cool. You can put them in the refrigerator to do it more quickly. Then place the tea bags over your eyes while you’re laying down and let them sit there for about 5-10 minutes. This is going to allow the caffeine from the tea bags to constrict the blood vessels, which is going to reduce swelling and inflammation.

5. Don’t Rub Your Eyes

When you first wake up don’t rub your eyes, in fact don’t rub your eyes anytime throughout the day. You-re also wearing out the thinnest layer of skin on the body which is under the eyes and the more that you irritate it when you rub it, the thinner it’s going to be. And the dark circles are going to become much more present.

6. Use Cucumber

Cucumbers have astringent properties that actually help to reduce swelling and they kind of tighten the skin. They also are great for reducing wrinkles and fine lines and brighten your skin tone.

7. Use Potatoes

Just like cucumber, the potato can reduce puffiness. The starch properties in potatoes are anti-inflammatory. Who would have thought?!

8. Use 2 Spoons

If you don’t want to put foodies on your face, then you can try using a couple of spoons. Just throw 2 spoons in the refrigerator and then place them over your eyes for a few minutes.

9. Use Sunscreen

Damage from the Sun is a major culprit especially for dark circles because basically when you’re damaging the skin you’re lessening the collagen and sending out those layers. Therefore the blood vessels are gonna show through. So it is important to make sure you are diligent about wearing your sunscreen anytime that you’re going out.

10. Touch Your Eye With The Ring Finger

Anytime you are touching around your eye area use your ring finger because it’s the softest pad and the weakest finger, so it’s going to apply the most gently.

11. Take Off Your Makeup

Make sure you remove your makeup every night before you go to sleep, even if you’re extremely tired. Makeup can get in there and clog pores overnight and cause your pores and everything to swell and expend.

12. Use Paper Towel

Another cool trick is to take a paper towel and get it wet and place it in your freezer overnight. Then when you wake up in the morning you can drape a piece of the paper towel underneath your eyes. It provides a great cooling sensation and also moisturises the under eye area.

I hope these tips helped you out to reduce that puffiness and those dark circles under eyes. Please share them with your friends and ask questions in the comment area below. Stay fit!
