When it comes to natural skin care it is very difficult to see what is just a marketing strategy, and what is actual science. So if you want to take care of your skin and make sure it’s all healthy and good for you on a long term, then you must pick all-natural products.
Today we will have a look at some natural skin care products that you can find in your own home. They do not belong to a certain brand, although they are heavily used by cosmetics companies.
Natural Skin Care Ideas
For all these products I suggest you buy the organic version, because it’s essential to take care of our skin the best we can, and chemical-filled natural skin care products are no better than normal store-bought cosmetics.
1. Exfoliate Your Body
If you want to make sure your skin is clear, you must exfoliate every now and then. Once or twice a week should be enough, both for the body and for the face.
If you are looking for natural skin care when you exfoliate then you can choose ground coffee. Either the coffee grounds that are left over from when you make coffee in a pot or in your filter, or just some coffee fresh out of the packet. If organic coffee is hard to find or too expensive, you can even use corn meal to do this, or raw sugar.
The trick here is to make sure that you are gentle. Even though this is natural skin care, you must make sure you don’t do more harm than good- if you are not gentle you can scratch your skin, so just gently rub the coffee grounds or corn meal to your wet skin and then rinse.
2. Hydrate Your Skin
When it comes to hydration we recommend, again, natural skin care products. Keeping it simple is essential, so you can just use a natural organic oil such as olive oil or argan oil. You apply it on your body after you shower and let it be absorbed for a few minutes.
If you’re not fond of the smell of natural organic olive oil, you can use coconut oil. Make sure it is not refined- natural coconut oil has a very nice coconut smell, and when you apply it to your skin you will be left with a lovely scent long after your shower.
The good news about this is that natural skin care oils can also be applied to your face without restrictions other than potential allergies- so make sure you don’t apply something you’re allergic to and test it on a patch of skin first, and leave it on for a few hours to see how your body reacts.
3. Take Care Of Your Scalp And Lips
When we think about natural skin care we usually think about replacements for face creams and body lotions. But keep in mind the lips and your scalp also need attention, and the best treatment is to use natural products.
For the scalp you can use olive oil and coconut oil, either separately or as a mixture. Apply it to your scalp and leave it on for 30-45 minutes (or more if you have the time, but not too long because we don’t want to macerate anything, so don’t go above a couple of hours). The coconut oil in particular is very effective if you have dandruff, and it’s a strong antifungal oil. You can add a few drops of essential oils too for an extra health boost, like tea tree oil- but make sure it’s just a few drops because this is strong.
If you want beautiful lips using a natural skin treatment then I recommend a very simple method with honey. Just apply it to your lips, and try not to eat it within 2 minutes. If you prefer a vegan alternative, shea butter is amazing and you can use it as a lip balm, and if you want something that smells really nice too you should try cocoa butter.
