How One Habit Helped Her To Lose 90 Pounds
This is the story of Vanessa Herron from Thousand Oaks, California. She is a working mom of 4 kids with ages between 14 and 22 years old. In February 2014 she got bad news from her doctor: she was prediabetic and had really high blood pressure. She was 242 pounds (110 kg) back then.
The fact that she was overweight wasn’t the reason she started to lose 90 pounds, but the news was her wakeup call. Sadly, the bad things that happen to us or to our beloved ones, things like disease, fear or even death, are the most powerful motivators. However,
A working mom with 4 kids who managed to lose 90 pounds is the motivation you need!
What Was Her Weight-Loss Secret?
The first step Vanessa did was to ditch her car. Instead of driving her daughter to school, she walked her. And because the school was one mile away, she wasn’t able to keep up at the beginning. But she didn’t quit. Every morning she went a little bit farther than the previous day, until, in the end, she was able to walk the entire distance.
In just 4 months, Vanessa lost 40 pounds, which not only that it’s amazing, but it’s safely too. Losing 10 pounds in a month isn’t something you couldn’t do. Until today, Vanessa managed to lose 90 pounds and her health measures are in normal ranges.
As you can see, it’s not enough to make a new healthy habit to lose 90 pounds, the key is to continue to push yourself further every day.
Walking for 30 minutes every day wasn’t the only thing she changed in her lifestyle. She learned from a book, called “The New Lean for Life“, how to replace bad carbs, like white rice, with the good ones, like quinoa. Here’s what she said about the time she was overweight:
“I felt like life was running me instead of me running my life.”
