Smoking is linked to many respiratory diseases such as asthma and pulmonary fibrosis.

Every puff you take contains a lot of chemicals including carbon monoxide, nicotine, and tar. Those chemicals affect your lungs negatively. They make it hard for your lungs to clean themselves and as time goes, it becomes hard to breathe.

If you have been smoking, it’s not too late to quit. It’s hard to, but worth it. Your lungs will improve gradually.

2. Join A Breathing Club

If you have lung problems and can’t be active, the best option is joining people who have the same problem as you.

Doctors and neighbors create support groups for people with same conditions including those with serious lung and breathing problems.

Alongside the members of your support group, you can work towards one goal, keeping your lungs healthy and also get encouraged. You also get all the information you need to keep lungs healthy and improve your life in general.

4. Stay Away From Infections

Respiratory infections such as cold can be severe at times. But there are many ways you can stay safe from them.

In case you get sick, stay away from the people you love. Ask for a job or school break, so that you don’t infect it to your work or schoolmates.

5. Avoid Pollution

Pollutants in your environment can damage your lungs terribly. They also make your lungs age.

Young lungs resist toxins easily. As you get older though, they become more and more vulnerable to infections.

Your lungs need a break from the polluted environment. Always turn your car window up whenever you are in heavy traffic so that you don’t inhale the fumes.
