4 Ways To Keep Your Athletic Shape During The Hot Summer

The winter has gone and all the extra weight you carry must be taken down. So here’s how to keep your athletic shape this summer.

The summer season is inviting. You get to go out and bask in the glory of the sun. The weather is good for any occasion you want, from camping, dining out, picnics, swimming or going to parks.

Literally, you can do so much – unlike during the cold snaps of winter or the chill of spring. No matter what season we have though, one thing that can never change is our rally to fitness.

Okay, maybe you let yourself loose in the kitchen for a couple of months. I can’t blame you, after a ton of holiday lineups in spring and winter you can easily get a couple of pounds heavier.

Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year are diet disasters. Summer or even before summer is the best time to get ourselves back into shape.

When your child is not at school in the summer, it’s important to keep them up and moving.

How To Keep Your Athletic Shape This Summer?

Let’s take a look at a few ways to keep your athletic shape moving this summer.

1. Do Yoga At Home

It can get pretty hot in the summer for most states. On average, it can get up to 90 degrees Fahrenheit and get as high as 115 degrees.

Although it’s fun to do things outside, the heat can easily get dangerous. If the heat bothers you, you can just stay fit by doing yoga in the comfort of your air-conditioned home.

Practicing yoga together with meditation can keep your body and mind fit. It offers the complete package for a healthier well-being.

The poses in yoga can strengthen, increase flexibility and tone your muscles. It may look simple but once you try it, you’ll understand.

2. Eat Healthy Meals

Summer season is very inviting. And it isn’t surprising to get invited to barbeques. BBQ has a ton of sugar and calories, not to mention the yummy side dishes that accompany them.

Try to opt for healthier options there or plan to eat extra clean before the get-together.

There are many yummy fruity drinks. Try to limit the drinks that are unhealthy. Don’t be afraid to let them splurge a little, but be sure to maintain a healthy diet for the rest of the day.

3. Go For A Dip

Ice skating and skiing may be out for now due to the temperature but summer opens up its doors to other outdoor sports.

The season is a great time to explore new sports or hobbies to past time, learn something new, and stay fit.

One of the sports that fit the bill for summer is swimming. Not only does it help cool you down from the heat, but it’s a good excuse for doing all the splashing, jumping, and playing in the water that you could want.

It’s a good time to visit sports parks and check out the available and interesting sports they offer.

There are local baseball sports facilities that have tournaments if your child just wants to be a spectator and enhance their skills by watching others. Watching others can actually make them better at their sport.

4. Consider Hiking

Now is the best time to visit and hike nearby parks, hills, and mountains in your area.

Apart from breathing in fresh air, seeing some amazing panoramic views and being with nature, hiking is considered a great cardio exercise.

On average, a person that weighs 200 pounds can burn around 550 calories per hour of hiking the great outdoors. That is like burning two cups of hot venti caramel macchiato you drank last winter…yikes.

No matter what you decide to do this summer, try to get your athlete fed a healthy diet and keep them up and moving and not glued to Fortnite.
