Recognizing The Causes And Finding New Ways To Avoid Stress

Learn how to address and, when possible, avoid stress to live a healthier and happier life.

Everyone has bouts of stress from time to time. When you stress over anything it causes the body to react in a physical, emotional or a mental manner.

Good stress can have a positive effect on you making you dig deep inside you to meet deadlines, pass a mid-term or a driving test.

Then there’s bad stress, the kind you live with day in and day out caused by a job that’s overwhelming, a financial crisis or a sick member of the family.

In these cases, stress can take a toll on the body and actually lead to serious health problems. Thankfully, there are several ways to release stress, positively.

What Stress Can Cause

Stressing once in a while will not upset the natural balance of your body.

However, frequent episodes can cause you to lose sleep, acquire heart disease, high blood pressure, a heart attack, and even a stroke. It can also bring on bouts of anxiety and depression.

Stress can also cause non-life threatening ailments like skin problems and excessive sweating. For the normal person sweating is simply an embarrassing moment.

Body’s Reaction To Stress

Many people when they stress tighten their muscles and become anxious, nervous or depressed. Others may sweat excessively for the moment until the state of mind passes.

However, for someone with a sweating disorder, known as hyperhidrosis, stressing over anything can bring on an excessive sweat episode causing the person to feel ashamed.

Learning how to stop nervous sweating will help to reduce the number of times you sweat excessively and eliminate many of those potentially embarrassing moments.

A Healthy Lifestyle

Living a healthy lifestyle which includes the proper amount of rest, a nutritious diet and exercise can do wonders for stress.

When you get the proper amount of sleep you think clearly, have focus and your mood is generally good.

Eating a healthy diet consisting of body nourishing foods like whole grains, protein, green leafy vegetables, and fresh fruit can also help you cope with stressful moments positively.

When you exercise, the body releases endorphins, making you feel good. When you get into this state of mind your stress levels reduce drastically.

How To Reduce Or Avoid Stress

The good news is that there are many ways to manage your stress.

If you are a person prone to anxious moments, remove yourself from these types of situations where possible.

For instance, you have a high-pressure job with a lot of responsibilities. So, you naturally carry the burden of the deadlines and sales on your shoulders.

As the person in charge, it’s important to delegate the work instead of either doing most of it on your own or micromanaging from afar.

If there is no way to unload the workload, consider applying for a new job.

In the case you stress over money, getting yourself on a budget and sticking to it will help you to feel better about yourself and allow you to relax and unwind.

If you need more money to cover your expenses, take on a second job or sell things to raise the extra cash.

There’s no way to totally avoid stress in your life. Things will happen that will cause it, some good, some bad.

However, if you recognize it early, you can learn to deal with it through the proper channels and avoid stress from taking hold of your life and causing you harm.
