Healthy Morning Routine To Start Your Day Off On The Right Foot

A healthy morning routine can help you start the day right – feeling energized, refreshed, and focused. Here’s how to achieve this.

Most of us wake up each day to plenty of commitments that end up defining the course of our days.

If you have children, you must look after them, prepare them breakfast, and get them ready for school.

I’m not recommending you overlook your chores. However, if you begin each day with a healthy morning routine, you will be mentally and physically equipped to deal with everyday tasks.

So, whether you prefer getting up early or not, I’ll help you identify strategies to improve your morning routine.

Healthy Morning Routine

Here is what a healthy morning routine should look like, according to industry specialists:

1. Set An Early Alarm

One of the most important tricks of a healthy morning routine is to keep your alarm away from your nightstand. So place your phone (this is what most of us use as an alarm clock nowadays) as far from your bed as possible.

Standing up and walking to stop the alarm is exactly what your brain needs to wake you up.

2. Wash Your Face

The very next thing you need to do after turning off your morning alarm is to wash your face and brush your teeth. This will be the second wake-up call for your brain.

And, if you’re into it, you can take a quick morning shower too. A cold shower in the morning is excellent for your health.

3. Drink A Glass Of Water

Now that you’re not sleepy anymore, it’s time to hydrate your body and regenerate after the overnight fluid loss (through perspiration and maybe multiple toilet trips).

So drink a full glass of cold water to fuel your brain, hydrate your body, and nourish your soul.

4. Add Some Pleasure To Your Morning Routine

To make your morning routine consistent, you should add a bit of pleasure. For example, getting my favorite coffee cup from the corner shop makes me wanna wake up in the morning.

For you might be something else. Find your morning mojo and be sure to make it part of your healthy morning routine.

5. Exercise

This is a prominent part of any healthy morning routine; you need to exercise regularly in order to stay healthy.

Some of the best morning exercises include:

You can also listen to your favorite music while working out to make it even more pleasurable.

Or you can fill your playlist with tracks that pump you up. My favorite one is Fight Back by Neffex.

6. Take A Cold Shower

There should be no doubt that a cold shower in the morning is beneficial for your body. It helps you reduce stress and depression, increases your libido and focus, and boosts your metabolism.

So after you do your morning workout, take a cold shower to reap all these health benefits.

7. Meditate

Meditation is another important part of a healthy morning routine. It helps you unwind, de-stress, and think about what really matters in your life.

Five minutes of meditation is enough to boost your focus and energy levels. It’s a great way to start your day.

If you don’t know how to meditate, there are plenty of guided meditation videos on YouTube. Just give it a search for “5-minute guided meditation“.

8. Eat A Healthy Breakfast

If you want to start your day off on the right foot you need to eat a healthy, nutritious breakfast.

Not only breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but it also helps you control your weight, boosts your mood, and protects you from heart diseases and even diabetes.

Healthy breakfast options include:

  • Omelet with salad;
  • Greek yogurt or oatmeal with fruits;
  • Peanut butter and jelly toast;
  • Smoothie;
  • Energy bar;
  • Pancake, etc.

The Takeaway

A healthy morning routine must include a workout, a healthy breakfast, and five minutes of meditation.

Drinking a glass of water immediately after waking up and taking a cold shower after working out are simple ways to boost your morning routine even further.

I know it’s hard to wake up early, but the benefits of starting your day off on the right foot are truly worth it.
