Essential Fitness Items You Need For Gym

If you are at the beginning of your fitness journey and are really serious about getting it right… well first of all congratulations! You pretty much rock.

Second of all, you’re probably wondering what essential fitness items you need when you first start going to the gym.

You know about all the fancy stuff, you know that some people take supplements but that whole thing is kind of confusing… Well, worry not. We’re here to help.

Let’s have a look at a small list of absolutely essential fitness items that you will need when you start working out in a gym.

Top 5 Essential Fitness Items For Gym

Here are the most essential fitness items you need to have in your gym bag:

1. Towel

Doh! But really, a good towel in the gym will make all the difference. Ideally, you should buy one of those extra-absorbing towels, because they are made from a very thin fabric, which means they don’t take up much space.

When you’re picking out a towel, first consider the material. You’ll want to avoid cotton, which holds on to sweat and will get stinky fast in your gym bag.

Mizu towel is just what you need! It’s a top-grade luxury soft towel made up of features that makes it the best smart bath, yoga, and gym towel in the world.

If your gym bag becomes the size of a rhino, you know something needs to change.

However, we did promise to show you the essential fitness items you will need, so even a normal towel would work.

Fancy towels are a great bonus but not mandatory – you don’t need to spend a fortune to start changing the way you look!

2. Clothes

This is one of the most basic and essential fitness items, although it’s hard to call it a piece of equipment per se.

However, it must be in your gym bag, so remember these details on what your workout clothes should be like:

  • It definitely must be comfortable.
  • Remember you will sweat whether you like it or not, so pick dark color clothes if you know you’ll be self-conscious with sweat stains.
  • Gyms are warmer than the outside, so don’t wear long pants during summer, or very thick clothes. Your body will heat up anyway from the exercising, and you don’t want your workout to become uncomfortable because of temperatures.

3. Gloves

Even for ladies. Or especially for ladies.

No matter how light your exercise, if your hand touches a dumbbell more than once a week (and I sure hope it does) you will need cloves unless you want to form calluses.

Do you want to give your partner a proper massage or a back scratch? Your call.

The more weights you lift, the more important these become. Many gloves are considered essential fitness items because they come with a wrist strap as well, which means they protect your wrists when you do your deadlifts or curls.

4. Water Bottle

I cannot stress enough how important it is to stay hydrated during a workout.

If you are reading this you are probably quite new to this whole gym thing, so believe me when I say that one essential fitness item you should always have with you is a water bottle.

Most gyms have a water dispenser or water cooler which you can use to refill your bottle. If they don’t, buy a bottle that has a filter, so that you can refill it with tap water and make sure you have everything you need with you in the gym.

5. Foam Roller

This piece of equipment (or recovery tool) is an essential fitness item because you will get sore muscles. If you don’t, you will need to reevaluate your workout because especially when you start working out your muscles will get sore if you’re having a bit of a challenging workout.

The foam roller will be used on your muscles and it will be just like a massage therapist- good at what it does, but kind of painful, and you’re not sure if you want to try it again but you know you should. Yes, really, you will think this.

It is, however, an extremely effective tool, especially for beginners. That’s because it helps to reduce your muscle soreness a lot, and the less pain you feel the more encouraged you will be to return to the gym.
