How To Safely Create A Daily Skincare Routine

Your daily skincare routine should involve cleansing and moisturizing your skin once during the day and once before going to sleep.

Skin is the primary clothing of the body. This serves as the outmost layer to keep all the things in the body intact.

Similar to the plants, the skin is also delicate and its glow, growth, and healing can be affected by various factors caused by the environment.

As such, having a high temperature can result in dryness and flakiness of the skin especially if it wasn’t moisturized or hydrated immediately.

Besides, the usage of wrong products can cause various skin risks such as acne breakouts and enlargement of pores.

Consequently, people are advised to follow a reliable and appropriate skincare routine. This will help maintain the overall health of their skin and improve specified concerns like dark spots, scarring, and acne.

How To Create A Daily Skincare Routine

Generally, a daily skincare routine follows four steps that are done once during the day and once during the night:

1. Cleansing

According to Dr. Wan Chee Kwang from 1Aesthetics, people should wash their faces with the use of a safe cleanser no more than twice a day. This would maintain the skin’s natural oils making it naturally moisturized and hydrated.

Furthermore, people should at least avoid wearing heavy makeup to prevent clogging of the pores.

2. Serums

Serums work as the vitamin providers of the skin.

A product with Vitamins C, peptides, and growth factors is advised to be used during the day and a product with prescription retinoids or retinol is great for the night.

3. Moisturizers

The moisturizer keeps the skin hydrated. For individuals with dry skin, they are advised to use cream-based moisturizers, while for those with oily skin, a lightweight, non-comedogenic, and gel-based is recommended.

4. Sunscreens

Sunscreens are applied during the day; these protect the skin from burning caused by the sun’s heat.

For people with darker skin tones, a product with at least 30 SPF is recommended because their hyperpigmentation is more difficult to correct.

DIY Skincare Products To Avoid

Although DIY hacks are cheap and easy to do, some of these recipes do not work best for certain individuals.

As such, lemon juice, garlic, baking soda, toothpaste, Vitamin E, and sugar are some of the DIY hacks people should avoid.

  1. Due to its high acid, lemon juice can cause irritation, dryness, and dark spots especially after exposure to the sun.
  2. Garlic can cause watery blisters, skin inflammations, eczema, and skin allergies.
  3. Baking soda can stress and cause dryness of the skin.
  4. Toothpaste absorbs the skin’s oil causing it to irritate and dry out.
  5. Although it is believed to improve scar appearance, the benefits of Vitamin E are not yet proven.
  6. Sugar is too harsh for the skin because it is an exfoliant.

Treat Your Skin Problems

There are a lot of ways and methods to tackle skin risks and problems.

However, the most important rule for effective skincare is not to pick scabs, blackheads, and acne. That’s because this can cause hyperpigmentation and open wounds resulting in a more serious skin problem.

Thus, to properly help the skin, seeking advice from a dermatologist is recommended. This expert would also provide you with the appropriate products to use for your daily skincare routine.
