The Cabbage Soup Recipe

This is the recipe for the cabbage soup you’ll have to eat every day for a week:

The Ingredients

  • 2 green peppers;
  • 2 large onions;
  • 1 bunch of celery;
  • 2 cans of tomatoes;
  • 1 head of cabbage;
  • 1 package of mushrooms;
  • 3 carrots;
  • 6–8 cups of water or vegetable cocktail, such as V8;
  • you can add 1-2 bouillon cubes but that’s optional.

The Preparation

  1. Start by chopping up all the vegetables into cubes.
  2. Take a large stock pot and saute the onions in a very small amount of oil.
  3. After the onions are done, add the remaining vegetables in the same pot and cover it with water or vegetable cocktail.
  4. You can add the bouillon cubes and another seasoning if you want.
  5. Bring your soup to boil then reduce to medium heat.
  6. Let everything simmer until the vegetables are tender, for about 30 to 45 minutes.

If you want to put additional seasoning in your soup you can put salt, hot sauce, pepper, and herbs to your taste. You can even add more non-starchy veggies to this soup, such as spinach or green beans.

During the 7 days of this diet, you can eat as much cabbage soup as you want. No restrictions here.

The Rules Of The Cabbage Soup Diet

If you are on this diet, you are only allowed to eat 1 or 2 low-calorie foods daily, in addition to the soup.

It is also important to avoid drinking calories. You should only consume water or calorie-free beverages like unsweetened tea.

Because this diet is very low in calories and nutrients, you can take multivitamins to supplement your daily nutrient intake.

These are the rules you need to follow every day while you are on the cabbage soup diet:

Day 1

You can consume unlimited amounts of cabbage soup and fruits (except bananas).

Day 2

You will need to eat only soup and vegetables for the entire day. You should focus on eating raw or cooked leafy greens.

Avoid eating corn, peas, and beans.

If you are really hungry you can eat one baked potato with a little butter or oil.

Day 3

In addition to the cabbage soup, you can eat as many vegetables and fruits as you want. Although you are not allowed to eat bananas or baked potatoes.

Day 4

Unlimited cabbage soup, bananas, and skim milk.

Day 5

You are allowed to eat 10–20 ounces (280–567 grams) of beef, but you can substitute that for fish or chicken.

Also, you can eat up to 6 fresh tomatoes, but make sure you drink at least 6 to 8 glasses of water (drink water every day!!!).

Day 6

You can eat soup, vegetables, and beef. You can substitute your beef with some broiled fish if you didn’t do that the day before. Focus on eating leafy greens instead of potatoes, beans, and peas.

Day 7

Alongside your soup, you can also eat brown rice, vegetables, and unlimited amounts of fruit juices (without added sugar).

You shouldn’t follow the cabbage soup diet for more than 7 days.

If you want, you can follow the diet again, as long as you wait 2 weeks to pass between the diets.

This cabbage soup is not recommended for more than one week because of its lack of nutrients. You should not deprive your body of the nutrients it needs for too long.

It will help you lose a few pounds and excess water weight in 7 days. But you will find it hard to stick to it because, let’s face it, eating the same thing for 7 days in a row can be really boring.
